I've done a fair amount in internet and forum research and can't come up with an answer to my question...Did Marlin ever make the 336 in .44 magnum with their famous pistol grip stock? I found that they did make it with the straight stock, but I really like the looks and feel of the pistol grip. Some help would appreciated. I actually called Marlin and asked the question, but I'm not really confident in the knowledge of the 'kid' in customer service that I spoke with.

From an old Italian catalog (1965) they show the Marlin 336 T chambered in 30-30 and 44 Magnum but with a straight grip, alongside the traditional 336 C chambered for the 30-30 and the 35 Remington.

This is as far as I know....

Not hard to swap stocks on a Marlin, but I think I've seen a 336/.44 mag with a pistol grip stock/lever on Gunbroker.

Yeah, I thought I did too about a month or so ago. That's what sort of got me on the hunt for one. I never thought of changing stocks. I'm assuming you mean change out a Marlin 1894 for a 336 stock. Would that require any modifying on the wood?

Probably. It would also require a curved 1894 lever and a curved 1894 trigger housing. I'm not sure if such exists.

Marlin did make a few 44 Mags on the 336 platform but they are something of a collector's item.

Yes they made 336's in .44, not sure on the stock configuration. They did make a limited run of 1894's with a pistol grip. They are highly sought after.

Good Luck,

Matt
