Hi........ First time poster here - rank, smelly newbie.......... ;-(

With your premission, I'd like to ask for a little advice here. I just bought an all but brand new Marlin Golden 39AS, made around 1994 (I think) and would like to add a receiver sight to it. The receiver IS D & T for a receiver sight.

Problem is I was told Williams' receiver sights won't work on a 39 : "This sight will not fit current manufacture 39A rifles with a rebounding hammer and hammer block safety."

Is this for real? Any way around it? Can't use a tang sight because the serial number is on the tang.

Thanks.....

Bill

The Williams sight will work, if you are willing to do some Dremel work. You just need to relieve an area of the sight so the safety can slide. Someone also makes a plug to get rid of the crossbolt safety, then you wouldn't have to mod the sight.

Here's another with a Skinner Peep Sight, Brass. I'm using a .050 aperture in this one for improved accuracy.

Hate to pile on with the Skinner, but I'm happy with a brass one for my 39A.

I've actually been using the wider apertures lately in my older age. Plus I try to shoot farther now and wider helps. A good 60 or 70 yards keeps it interesting... ;)

His front sight blades are also well-done and generously tall, so you can file down as needed.
