Hello All,
I have a Marlin 39A Lever action 22 that I have been trying to find a part for
( magazine tube band ). The problem is I am not sure of when this rifle was made. Most of the parts catalogs I have come across online ask if this is a old or newer model 39A. The serial # is E 16031. I havent been able to find any reference to this. Any help ? Thanks in advance.

The "E" series was made in 1948.

These older Marlins have astounding quality, and about 99% of the parts are forged and milled.
I'm restoring a 1950 model, and even the flat springs are milled steel.
The wood to metal fit is nearly seamless. Back in those days, Marlin did the final fit of the stock by heating the receiver tangs and pressing the stock on.
Look inside, and you'll see scorch marks from the heat.

As for parts, including the magazine band, the best source I've found is Jack First:
http://www.jackfirstgun.com/

He was the only place that had hammers and triggers, and they were BRAND NEW, not used parts like everyone else sells.

The magazine band never changed over the years, so any made since at least the war will fit and be correct.

While there are a number of sources for Marlin parts, I do recommend First, he's where most pros go for parts before anyone else.
Just call them, and they will take the order over the phone and ship FAST.

Thank you very much for the info on my rifle. I am completing the restoration of it and have been looking all over for the magazine band. I'll contact the supplier you linked to.
