Hi there this forum came up in a google search, as i was searching to get information about the marlin 39m original golden .22 lever action. I found a thread 6 pages long about the 39a but i didn't feel like i should have resurrected it. Could anyone tell me the difference between the a and the m?? I'm wondering because i was thinking about selling it but the information i've been coming up with is starting to make me reconsider. Any information you all could tell me about this rifle I would truly appreciate. Thanks

The M is the Mountie which is a carbine with an 18in barrel and a straight stock. The 39A is the golden and a full length rifle with a pistol grip stock. To my knowledge there was never any such thing as a golden 39m just a golden 39a.

the top rifle is a 1957 made 39-A,the middle rifle is a 1967 made 39-M,the third rifle is a 1991 made 39-TDS. eastbank.

As stated above, the Original Golden 39M uses the same receiver as the 39A, but has a straight stock with a 20" barrel. Mine was made in 1972 and has the squared lever and fluted stock. The "Mounties" are much sought after and are much more scarce than most of the full-sized models. If it's in nice shape you should be able to fetch a good price for yours. Just keep in mind that they're no longer made and will probably continue to appreciate into the future.

Any kind of guestimation as to the value of the 39m? Mine is in about the same condition as that one right above this post. no rust the wood is flawless, action works great

Most in that condition seem to go for between $500-$600 on gunbroker with a few going higher or lower. I'm not sure what it would bring outside of an auction. I gave quite a bit less than that just a few months ago for mine.

where would i find the serial number on it? i looked all over the gun and couldn't find it. i was really hoping i wouldn't have to take it all apart to find it
