I'm looking at a short (3 day) hiking/camping trip with a friend of mine this spring, and I want a small pack rifle to take along. No bears or anything to worry about, so don't say that I'm not "bringing enough gun."

I'd like to work with what I already have, and not buy something new. I've got an old camouflage military backpack that I'll be using, and my friend is loaning me a MOLLE system compatible "shotgun scabbard" that will attach to the side. The scabbard is about 25" long or so.

I've got my old Marlin 60 that i want to take along, but the full size stock is going to be too long to comfortably carry on the side of my pack (I'm 5'7").

Sooo.... does anyone here know of a website where I can order a decent folding stock for the Marlin 60? I've done some Google-fu and so far turned up nothing but references to Butler Creek stocks for Ruger 10/22's.

MUZZELITE BULLPUP RIFLE STOCK
for the MARLIN 60 TUBULAR FED
OPTIONAL: Muzzelite Bags

The most striking feature of the MUZZELITE bullpup stock, when attached to your action, is the overall length of 26-1/2". This allows you to carry the rifle with much greater mobility. Whether your sport is hunting or plinking, the MUZZELITE bullpup stock will convert a long rifle into a compact weapon system in just a matter of minutes!

The stock itself has fixed sights which are adjustable for windage and elevation. The windage is done with the rear sight and the elevation is done with the front sight. The stock also comes equipped with a scope mount which attaches in the handle.

Construction is of fiberglass reinforced plastic. Required Allen wrench is included.
and there's many more

Yeah, I saw the bullpup stocks. They look cool, but the trouble is the grip won't fit into the scabbard I've got. Still doing Google-fu...

Ya got me. try tapco. they make a rear adj. stock like the m4gery style

Yeah, so far no luck with Tapco. They don't even seem to list Marlin 60 accessories. It seems that the only .22 that companies really make accessories for is the Ruger 10/22.

Have you looked into an SVD stock for the Marlin? I've got one on my rifle right now. Evenly balanced, even with a bipod mounted on it. I can't remember who makes it or where I bought it from though...

Been looking at that SVD stock. Kind of cool. Doesn't fold though, but I figure if I bought one I could either butcher it to insert a folding mechanism, or I could use the SVD stock for fun at the range, but use the design to build my own (carved oak or walnut comes to mind, since I have some ok quality wood and the proper knives and chisels).

I wish some one would make a folder for the 60 but as far as I can tell no one does.

The Marlin 70p and 70pss (250 or so new ) were made as pack guns. If you plan to hike a lot that might be a worthwhile investment or consider handgun like phoenix hp22 for around 150
