I have a couple of Marlin .22 autoloaders (Model 60 and 75C) that are about 25 years old. Both have the standard birch stock that came on them when new. I've recently seen a nice-looking laminated stock made for the current Marlin 60SS. Does anyone know if a new stock will fit an older Marlin 60? To my knowledge, the only major difference between my guns and the current models has to do with barrel/magazine tube length, which should not affect the stock fit at all. Does anyone know if Marlin has changed something that might affect the inletting of the stock so that a new stock just would not work on an older rifle? Thanks!

I bought my first Marlin .22 semiauto rifle in 1965 (a Glenfield 99G
a variant of the model 60), bought one M60 as a gift to my younger
son, and bought a new, current Model 60 from my older son.
And I bought or traded a couple in between, including a variant
brand named Revelation for the Western Auto stores. I put two of
them in Ramline folder stocks in between.

As far as I can tell, there have been no changes to the inletting
of the stock. The receivers and trigger guards have gone through
modifications over the years, but it looks to me that the stocks
should all be compatible.

You should not have any problem with the replacement stocks. I have done the same thing.

Do note that the current Marlins (as of '85 or so) have the Bolt Hold Open button sticking down by the triggerguard.

I believe that you can put an old rifle into a new stock, but will have a small unnecessary inlet by the trigger-guard for your non-existent BHO.

I tried putting a new rifle into an old stock, and realized that I'd need to cut out a space for the BHO button to protrude, so ended up switching back.

You swap out the trigger guard too. The trigger guard carries
the trigger and safety, so in swapping stocks, the trigger
guard should be swapped out with the receiver/action anyway
just to keep to old trigger-sear relationship (the trigger in the
triguard mates up with the sear-disconnector in the action).

I did buy an older M60 barreled action at a gunshow (no stock
and obviously no trigger guard) and bought a new style trigger
guard and stock for it.

Thanks for the replies. This sounds like an easy ungrade to make. Has anyone here actually put a blued Marlin 60 barreled action in a 60SS stock? How does it look? I've only seen them on stainless models, but I'd think that the laminated wood would complement a blued finish just as well.

Hello, I'm new to these forums. I just came into possession of an early wester auto 22. I would just like to get a better understanding of just how easy/ difficult it is fitting the revelation modle120 to a ramline stock? Please be detailed Im known to be a little remedial. Lol
