Picked up a marlin 81 dl the other day and looking at the barrel stamp you can see a faint old marlin style stamp of .
-Marlin Firearms Co- Model-
- New Haven Conn. Usa- 81-dl-
Than also is a newer stamp over the bottom half of the previous stamp saying.
"The marlin Firearms co. New haven, conn, usa. - Est 1870
Model 81-DL-22cal-s-L-LR-- O
Has anyone ever seen a double stamped marlin? This seems odd to me, The font styles are also differant. My camera wouldnt clarify the 2 stamps enough to post a picture. But this is a older model 81 Dl due to no serial number, and older style cocking knob. Also it came with the factory peep sight base but not peep sight.. so if anyone has one laying around please let me know. Thanks
