I have a Marlin 922M (.22 Magnum, semi-automatic) that I really like, although I have only shot it once or twice so far. Last time I had it out, I was breaking clays at 60 yards, offhand with a scope. So it's no slouch in the accuracy department.
Yesterday I spotted a Savage 93G with Accutrigger in a shop and held it, and liked the way it fit me. I might consider it, but only if I will get appreciably more accuracy from it than my Marlin. At 50 yards, the Marlin is just fine. I'm not sure which would perform better at 100 yards, or would they be roughly equal.
Just trying to see if it's worth it to buy another .22 Magnum or not, strictly for fun. (I only use this for target shooting, not hunting.)
Thanks

My Marlin 917VS, the most accurate rifle I have ever owned. This is a 2004 model, I got a rebate and a store discount because the stock was crooked (typical of Marlin then and now) and touched the barrel. I cleared the barrel and epoxy bedded the rifle with pillars and a few other things including the Rifle Basix trigger:

These shot at 100 yards, I have since upgraded the scope rings and scope mount to a rail. It is much more stable now:

Thanks all. I'm not looking to move to another caliber now, but I do know the .17 is quite accurate, as those targets show.
Scooter - Good advice, I will try my 922M at 100 yards and see what happens. I really like the 922M, so unless I would find another .22 Magnum that is "significantly" more accurate, I'll stick with it. This is just a fun gun for me anyway.

I'd bet my money on that lol, I've had both savage and marlin they seem to shoot about the same. I think I like the marlin better, but if it's a good shooter it doesn't matter to me.

I have a new Savage A17 with the varmint barrel and thumb hole stock. So far so good. No issues after a few break-in rounds. I do not think it will give my Marlin 917 serious competition but it is shooting well and is plenty accurate especially considering it is brand new and still settling in and I have not done any bedding or such. Maybe a Savage A22M?

I am pretty sure the Savage bolt gun .22 Magnum would whup up on the Marlin semi-auto and I would bet on the A22M over the Marlin semi also.
