Bought a nice Marlin model 25 bolt action .22 rifle today at a pawn shop. This is a gift for my daughter's 12th birthday this weekend. Serial puts date of mfr at 1983.
7 round mag, seems to not want to eject if there are less than 3 rounds in the mag. Get down to 2 rounds in the mag and no more ejecting.
I'm guessing that the upward pressure from the mag assists in ejecting the spent round, and that maybe the mag spring is weakened and not putting enough upward force to eject once the spring decomresses too much.
Thoughts? Anyone know about how these guns eject and/or this particular issue?
