i have and older model i squirrel hunt with and it has a terrible trigger pull that creeps and seems like it must be 8-10# pull.is there a way i can adjust it down to about 3# ?

Take it to a good gunsmith and spend the $50 or so for a quality trigger job. If you have to ask how here, you don't have the tools or skills to do it yourself.

Big +1, would be a crying shame to Bubbafy a nice rifle. Would be well worth it to bring to a professional and get what you want done

Oh yeah, as above - clean the hell outa it first. When I got my "Golden 39" I was the third in the family to own it and I wondered at the atrocious trigger even thinking it might have something to do with the "Golden" part as my old 39 was sweet.

Anyhoo - I got to wondering about that finish on the trigger itself and got 'er opened up and seriously cleaned after finding years of powder residue, solvents and oils and UI bits o' stuff to include what looked like cleaning patch parts.

Now - sweet as any reasonable fella could hope for. That thing was so nastified that I'm amazed it wasn't locked up.

As mentioned, try cleaning it completely. If disassembly might be an issue, take it to a good gunsmith and have it done.I had one myself years ago and took it apart out of curiousity but couldnt get it to go back together.A smith charged me 10 bucks to reassemble it and showed me how that bolt thing went back in there and how everything worked together in the trigger and the tube magazine, well worth it to understand it..

It shouldnt have a gritty trigger.Mine broke pretty clean even when it was dirty, never cleaned it in 5 years other than a patch down the bore.Something doesnt sound right.
