After looking and waiting for almost a year and a half, I was finally able to locate a Marlin 1894c at a nearby gun store yesterday. Although I am glad to FINALLY own this seemingly elusive model, I'm not too pleased with the fit and finish. There is a very noticable gap where the bottom side of the bolt mates to the receiver (approximately .025) , which does allow some slight vertical slop in the bolt assembly. The rifle is still NIB and unfired, although the warranty card has been filled out (not mailed yet). Perhaps this isn't uncommon nowadays, I don't know...but every other Marlin lever action rifle I've seen had superb fit and finish and much tighter tolerances. I love my Marlins and have been VERY pleased with the others I own....just a little disappointed in this particular one.
At this point I guess I have 3 options.....return it to the store and order a replacement (on indefinate backorder though )....mail in the warranty card and send it back to Marlin to bring it up to an acceptable level, or live with it as it is just shoot the darned thing.
Has anyone here dealt with Marlin customer service before ? Is this something that would be covered under warranty ?
