Marlin XS7 with a Savage barrel?

I have a Marlin XL7 and I would like to know if any one has done a Savage barrel install on the Marlin receiver. I have tried to contact Sharpshooter Supply about the rebarrel and no one has given me an answer. I suppose they just stay too busy.
I understand that the bolt face depths are different between Savage and Marlin with the Marlin having the deeper bolt face. Seeing as this diference between the two may cause a headspace issue my questions are as follows: Did the barrel need to be recessed or was there an issue with headspace at all. Has any one done the swap?

If so, any information would be nice.

I apologise if I am bringing up a worn out topic.

Its my understanding that they do not share the same threads/diameter.

you may be right. I took the stock off and got an measurment just forward the nut and got 1.082 on my dial caliper. The Savage shank should be 1.055. I will recheck my caliper at work (if I can remember to) to make sure it's accurate.

There are two different diameters of Savage receivers. The Marlin is the same diameter as the smaller, older Savage. All of the WSM calibers use the larger shank.

I put an Adams & Bennnet Savage barrel in 35 Whelen on a Marlin. I had to have 0.015 turned off of the face of the barrel in order to get a GO gauge to bottom before the bolt face hit the breech. If you don't trim the face of a Savage barrel you will have excessive headspace.

The Marlin uses a MIM extractor, so if there's space in front of the shoulder for the case to move forward the stress of the firing pin blow gets transmitted directly to the extractor. The result will be a shattered extractor within just a few trigger pulls.

I know all this from firsthand experience.

From all the Intel I have gathered, Elkins45, you are correct. However, armed with possibly erronious measurments I can't make myself order an E.R. Shaw that I've seen for sale.

I have contacted Shaw. They did not indicate directly that the Savage would "hub up" properly. They did tell me that they could use my barrel to make a new one with the exact thread and diameter "hub" to any spec I wish for $240.00 shipped.
