I have a coworker who wants to sell a A.V. Marocchi 12 ga. O/U shotgun. It has "Mod. Sturdy Cal. 12 3" Imported by F.I.E." marked on the right side of the barrels, and has a silver colored, engraved receiver. I'd rate it at about 85% aesthetically, but there is some slop in the lock-up of the barrel-to-receiver. Not a lot, but from my perspective any is undesireable (although I have never owned an o/u shotgun). What would be a fair price for this shotgun, and is there any way to tighten up the action? I've been wanting to buy an o/u or s/s shotgun for bird hunting and clays, but am uncertain whether this thing is spent, or still has life in it. I could use some advice.

John,

Yep, the shotgun I'm holding looks just like that one. There is no discernable gap between the barrels and the receiver face, even when held up to a light source. The barrel seems tight to the receiver face, and this doesn't change when handled, but something shifts just a little. Maybe the barrel is shifting side to side in the pivot holes? The play is so slight that it is difficult to tell what's going on. unfortunately, after looking the thing over, I can't see how you would be able to tighten the thing. I guess I'll pass on my coworker's offer. Thanks for the link and the advice.
