Here it is, late September already. Your kids are at school and you've had time to get used to the regular schedule again. How about some fun.

I figure mid to late Oct should be just about perfect. The weather will be as close to perfect as it gets around here for outdoor shooting at the Westminister range for some rifle shooting (and I can't believe the pistol range won't be open by then, assuming it isn't already open). The chances for rain will be about as low as they ever get around here, by then we may have warm days but it won't be getting hot anymore, and it will be too early to be getting cold yet.

What say you guys? Make it tentatively Sunday Oct 24th starting at 1:30 or 2pm (time for church/family time for those so inclined, but should leave plenty of shooting time).

As luck would have it Sheslinger and I will be in town from the 24 through the 30th, so barring anything unforseen we will tag along if you will have us.

Chris

Sadly, I will be off on a "girls weekend" at that time relaxing, drinking and spending a day at the spa (okay, so i'm not too sad about it :p ).
Cslinger and Sheslinger, if you still want to get together midweek or the next weekend, let me know. Anyone up for that as well? A shooting event followed by a non shooting event that same week?

I'll be around that weekend as well.

Just remember that Hap Baker Range is extraordinarily crowded by 2pm on a Sunday in October with the hunting crowd sighting in their rifles. 2 hour wait times are not unheard of......

Arg....I'll be roughing it in the wild, slaying wild aquatic creatures for my meals, and having nothing but strong ale to drink.

In other words I'm going on a camping trip down on the Pocomoke river with some buddies to catch fish and drink beer.

Cslinger....I'd be up for the dinner/drinks thing during the week though.

anapex and I had pm'd about getting together anyway, so this might work out just fine.

Tina usually has off on Tues and Thurs nights.

/thread hijack off

I will bring the AR15 with .22long rifle conversion. If that doesn't get some grins from her I just don't know what will. I assume this would be ok in any indoor ranges.

Chris

Um....yeah.

You see, I have an AR-15....looks pretty evil too.

she doesn't know I have it.

.22lr conversion should be no problem at the indoor ranges

For those that haven't been to Hap Baker for awhile there is now also a dedicated pistol range with 9 lanes using a pulley system so there are no cease fires. That's the good news. The bad news is that unless you are firing a 50 yard and up hand cannon you are going to have to use the pistol range. If a few people go then it would probably be best to have some on the benches and some on the pistol range so you can go back and forth.

It's been strange this year with range use. Two weeks ago every bench was taken and people waiting by 9:30. Last week, with the start of black powder hunting season coming up, the range did not start filling up until around 11:30. I took three handguns with me just in case I had to wait but it was pretty empty an 9:15. If they get real busy they will limit range time to two hours.

Slight chance me and the Mrs and the baby might be out in that area then. No promises, though I'll have a much better idea in a week or two. Won't be bringing any guns if we are there, so we'd have to bludge off the rest of you. We'll see what transpires.

I now have a couple Mosin Nagants and a K31 I can bring if we do Hap Baker, that should give us something a little bit different then the regulars. Not as unique as the stuff Jim brought with him last time though, I don't have that kind of money yet!

"No 40 round or banana clips" - Sign posted at the range.

something to do with thise two jackoffs who went around DC shooting people two years ago.....

I'd like to think that I'll have my FAL by then, by I remain skeptical that one will turn up in time.:(

I'll volunteer up my AR-15 if Norton wants to take it with him.

Maybe somebody can sight in the new scope I put on it.....

>>>I'll volunteer up my AR-15 if Norton wants to take it with him.<<<

But....but...it might take over my soul with its tacticality and evilness and make me do bad things:evil:

Well it's in "timeout" right now for breaking out of the safe and murdering babies, old ladies and pregnant nuns on the 13th.

Bad rifle, no ammo!:neener:

I'll send a pm out to all the MD'ers on my "buddy list" to stir the pot a little

Ok....pm's were just sent out to about 45 Marylanders here at THR. I excluded people who have already posted here.

You guys should have a great time; I wish I could be there.

October shoot

Thursdays and Fridays off, only.

Super good idea, though.

Pls keep me posted on any other events, no matter what day they might fall on. :( :(

Thx for PM Scott - hadn't found this thread. I would like to come but so far seems like Oct is almost too full ... also have a long haul to a PA shoot Oct 30. All is not lost - yet ... just might manage but - no way to be definite right now. Would of course be great to get down and see everyone.

I'll see how month progresses so have to be so far a ''might be''.

If not that one then hopefully another in the winter months.

Hey Chris,

You know you've got two road trips in you!:D

Where is that PA shoot? My life is getting back to normal in a couple of weeks and I might be able to pull a road trip as well.

That's about a 3 hour drive for me....that's a do-able day trip. I think the wife is working that day......

I may show up there and meet a few new folks.....

Has anyone actually tried out the new pistol range? I went over today to see what it's like since I live just a few miles from there. The targets backers are free hanging from a rope? Even the slightest breeze turned things into a carnival game. The pistol range sure seems like a good idea gone bad..... back to Marriottsville for me.
Crazy

I can't say for sure, but it seems as if the whole pistol range saga has been a tug of war between what the guys that run the range want and what the guys controlling the purse strings have been willing to provide.
