After a record acorn crop last year, acorns are spotty here in east Tn. The higher elevations (above 3000 ft.) have good chestnut oak and red oak but the white oaks are small in most places. At lower elevations its hit or miss in most places. But the soft mast looks good all around, lots of grapes in my area. Just wondering about southern Ohio, as we hunt there too, haven't been up yet, any feed back from that area?

The way the oaks looked here back in May was unbelievable. The flowers were everywhere, plugged up the eavstrough.

Now almost no acorns. Five squirrel were in the oak in the front yard for 2 days and have em wiped out??

Squirrel season has been in for a couple weeks here in Ohio. Hickory nuts are very scarce but seems to be some walnuts and lots of beechnuts. Don't know about the acorns just yet-too busy blasting squirrels out of some IMMENSE beech trees.
