I don't own one, but the feedback I've read has been positive enough that I'm planning on trying to get one in the future when I have some money, just as a fun gun. An MPA10 or 30 (haven't quite decided which yet) is at something like position 3 or 4 on my "to buy" list.

They're supposed to be pretty much the best of the semi-auto Mac clones, and the trigger pulls are surprisingly nice. They're also as large, heavy, and ergonomic as a brick on a stick, but you know that already. :p

I've the micro model with the side cocker and top rail.

No issues so far. With a cheap red dot its a lot of fun and about as accurate as anything with a 3.5" barrel.

Got one of the Mac-10 models in 45 ACP. It has yet to jam or misfire for me. Mine uses grease gun mags which you can still find relatively cheap. It is definitely overbuilt since the origional design was for full auto.

I would like to have one of them in .45 ACP but there are so many guns out there to choose from and I don't know where to start. I feel it would be a great addition to my doomsday locker. Anyone out there have an opinion on 9mm vs. .45? Not the calibers thats a fight in itself. I mean in this particular weapon.

RugerNut9,

I've handled and examined (didn't get to fire them :( ) each one at my FFL's place and regardless of caliber, they both seemed to be exceptionally robust pistols. I doubt that after caliber (and weight) there is little real difference between the two in terms of durability and functionality.

I have owned both the 9mm full sized and the 9mm compact. They are fun and accurate. I had about 300 rounds through both of them with out any issues. Mine ran off of sten gun magazines.
The only weak spot that I can think of on them is the small pin that keeps the charging knob from rotating. The pin broke on both of mine. Not a big issue because both guns kept on going. I went to lowes and bought a similar sized roll pin and replaced the broken pin.
