I'm doing some match prepping(first time for me) on a bunch of once fired 30-06 Winchester brass I picked up. What I'm doing is uniforming the primer pocket depth, trimming the case, and then deburring the flash hole. The instructions for the Lyman flashole deburring tool say to only cut .010. I realized after prepping over 100 cases that I screwed up the setting somehow, and was cutting .030. I have now properly adjusted and triple checked the tool, but I don't know if I the first batch of cases are OK, or if they will need to be kept seperate from the rest that will be deburred properly.

i wouldn't worry too much about it. once you drill the flash holes out to .075 most of that will go away, anyway.

Sounds like I need more help than I thoght, I thoght I was supposed to just deburr the flasholes, I didn't even know I was supposed to drill them out. Please tell me what I should be doingto prep, so I don't miss anything.

you're doing fine - don't sweat it too much. drilling flash holes, necking cases up then down, neck turning, neck reaming, etc are all practices that aren't necessary for 95% of the rifles and shooters out there, but it passes the time nice.

trim your cases to a uniform length, chamfer inside the case mouths, deburr the outside of the mouths, clean out your primer pockets, and then stuff 'em full of powder and shoot 'em. deburring the flash hole is an optional step. since you've already done it, just start your load development as usual, and watch for pressure signs...

Dakotasin, my flasholes already are larger than .075. Do some kinds of brass come with small flash holes?
