A friend stumbled on a high power match rifle recently for a song. Unfortunately, before he bought it, it transferred hands a few other times, so no one we've talked to really has a definite history on it. I won't tell y'all what he paid for it just yet, I was just wondering if I could get a guestimate from you folks.
It's built off a Remington 700 action, serial number B66xxxxx range. Caliber .308 Win. Has a pretty heavy contour stainless barrel with a glare strap, about 24" in length, I believe it's a Hart with a 1:10 twist; the last owner we talked to about it guesses it's had 200-300 rounds through it. It's stuck in a wood stock marked "Freeland," with a pretty wide forearm and a rail with a cuff type match rifle sling attached to it, also a Freeland. Doing the dollar bill test, it's floated all the way to the receiver. The trigger group appears to be stock Remington, with a guestimated 2-3 lbs pull; I don't have a pull guage to verify, but it's pretty dern light. The bolt itself cycles very freely. The receiver is slotted for stripper clip feeding. Sights are marked "Redfield International Match" front and rear. I've never played with sights like this before, I'm not exactly sure what the adjustment increment is in. On the elevation scale, a counterclockwise turn moves the sight up, and is marked MIN and YDS, in 15 minute increments up to 60 minutes. The rear aperture has a rubber eyepiece on it.
I can try and get some pictures up for y'all ifn you want 'em tomorrow afternoon when I get home from work.
Thanks in advance.
