I ended up with a Mauser 1914 today and doing some reason on the pistol has left me a bit surprised. There is not a whole lot of info out there on these pistols, with realistically one somewhat thorough description of its manufacturing changes and history (the unblinking eye). Why is it so obscure? I must admit that it is not an attractive design, so I am assuming that it’s utilitarian look has less romanticism than guns like the Walther PP and it’s less unique appearance puts it behind the p08, C96, etc.

I will follow up with photos of my pistol tonight after I decode the Waffenamt and get it to where I can take pictures.

It's a most enjoyable gun but may need a new service kit. I change to new springs on all my experienced handguns. Watch out for one thing, the old magazines tend to develop cracks at the top back and when that happens it will spread the lips just enough to totally lock everything up. Fortunately new magazines are available and work well.

I got it apart, AND back together... that last part was interesting because springs flew and I wasn’t sure what went where. It’s uglier than I expected it to be when I agreed to the deal, but it’s fine. It’s definitely functional which is what matters more to me. I have a thing for ugly ducklings. I will try to get a picture of the Waffenamt on the slide near the rear sight but I cant get lighting to play nice with the cell phone.

Just shot one over the weekend.. Almost seems funky how he slide locks back.. But it was darn fine shooting little pistol..

Rather large pistol for a 32 acp. The Walther PPK in 32 acp is much trimmer arm .
It reminds me of the Beretta Tomcat 32 acp... too large for a 32 acp and clunky.

I like a decent sized gun in any flavor. When you can’t even grip the thing properly you often get slide-bite or terrible accuracy. I prefer a gun that works. This one works, and does it comfortably.
