Took my mauser hsc to the range today. Shooting blazer brass 95 gr. First round will fire flawlessly and eject perfectly. However, it will not load the second round. Pull the clip, insert the clip, pull the action, fires fine. Still no loading of the second round.

My guess is that you have a post WWII commercial 380. I had a pre-war HSc in 32 that ran flawlessly and foolishly traded it away. Bought a commercial 380 back in the 90s. Worst pistol I ever owned. Even spoke with a technician at Interarms (the importer). His recommendation was to replace the magazine springs with Walther PPKs magazine springs. Didn’t work. Aside from reliability problems, a good many HSc 380 pistols ended up with cracked frames. This is one of the coolest looking pistols ever produced and it’s also one of the worst. My recommendation to you is to dump it. Want a good 380? Walther PPKs, Beretta 84, Beretta 85, SIG 230, SIG 232. Just my opinion but I got $5.00 that says you will never get that pistol to run two full magazines back to back without a jam.

If it were my gun, I'd start by trying some different kinds of ammo and then maybe try replacing the magazine spring.

I have a post-war HSc that runs great, so they arent all turds. I havent found an FMJ it doesn't like, and even some brands of JHP will cycle without issue.

Where/when does the stoppage occur? does it move the next round from the magazine at all? or does it stop somewhere else?
what happens if you load the magazine with fewer rounds?

If you've never put new springs in it, it wouldn't hurt to get some fresh ones in there

My brother had one of the Interarms imported Mauser HSc pistols in .380 back in the mid 70s. He use to have similar feed problems with his gun, even with different magazines and ammo. Had the feed ramp polished and that helped somewhat with FMJ ammo but the gun still wouldn't work with any sort of JHP ammo. He eventually gave up on it and sold it. Kind of frustrating too because it was a nicely made gun with an overall first rate fit and finish; just couldn't get it to run right.

Happens every second round. Will not load. This is post war .380. Tried it 4 times and gave up. This was 2 magazines of Remington 380 auto and 2 magazines of blazer 380 ACP
