Hi all new here. I recently bought a Yugo M48 8mm mauser and when i tried to fire it it just clicked. I tore it apart and noticed the tip of the firing pin is bent. Where can i purchase i new firing pin online? Ive looked at numerous sites like numrich and nobody sells them. Is there another Yugo Mauser that is compatible with the M48 or am i just SOL?

Intermediate Large Ring M-98 ,(Large ring, Short action)
Mexicans by FN and Belgium, the M24, M47, M48 by FN and Yugoslavia. This M-98 short is considered an intermediate action, and WILL NOT fit a Standard 98 Mauser stocks and standard bolts & bolt parts will not interchange.

This company seems to have complete bolts.

You may have to buy a complete bolt to get the firing pin out of it for yours..

noticed the tip of the firing pin is bent.
If it isn't broken off, it could be straightened.

1903 Turk Mausers are an intermediate action and will fit a M48 with a little adjustment of the cocking piece. They stick out of the cocking piece a bit more than the original.

Numrich Arms show them in stock.

There used to be a guy on Gunbroker who modified standard M98 firing pins to fit the intermediate bolts, but I didn't see any when I checked a while ago.

If you try to straighten the tip, use light taps preferably with a brass hammer with the pin tip resting on a metal support block. Normal projection of the firing pin should be around .060" or 1/16" from the bolt face.

Maybe jimmyraythomason's offer should be considered if you cannot straighten the Fpin. M48 and 24/47 firing pins are real hard to find.

Find the company in the USA that imports Zastava's (I think it will be Beretta USA or Remington but dont quote me on that) and send them am email about how and where you can get a firing pin for your M48 Yugo Mauser (I would say they would sell it direct if it is Beretta USA). As you can see from the link below the Yugo M48's are still made by Zastava and just quietly that make great actions for project guns.

Probably the best way to find out who imports the M48 into the USA would be to sent Zastava an email.
This is there import export email address.

More contact details and email addresses if you need them.

Edit: when you find out where to get your firing pins get yourself a spare.

+1. you may never need it, but you never know.

If you think M48 firing pins are a pain, try finding an interchange for a 1910/1936 Mex Mauser. I've got a great 1910 sporter that I picked up a couple spares from Hoosier gw for.

Morcey2, i will try to find one of those firing pins at a pawn shop to have a few extra

Fullboar1, thanks for web-site i shot them an e-mail and i guess ill see what happens monday.

NCsmitty, I cleaned the hell out of the bolt today and re oiled it pretty good, i took it out with 8 rounds left and every one of them fired. I looked at the pin and it was protruding. Im thinking the little bit of cosmoline was slowing the pin down just enough to tap the primer, not set it off.

Thanks everyone for the input ill try to nab a few extra pins at a pawn shop or gun show. This forum rocks

Theres a guy on ebay and gunbroker named mauser marty. If anyone has it at a fair price its MM. I've bought parts and whole rifles from him in the past.
