Quick question, which may apply to anyone who has a large ring Mauser...

Have you used any of the new production ammo, Federal, Win SuperX, Wolf, in 8mm Mauser and did you have any feeding problems?

I've already learned awhile ago that the free box of Remington round nose I was given just dead stops when trying to rack a new round. The nose just doesn't slide up the ramp, stops cold. The other brands mentioned above look (from pictures anyway) to be more pointed nose, but not fully Milsurp FMJ pointed.

So the annoyance is, no one local has any 8mm Mauser other than the Remington round nose :barf: so I need to just wing it and buy some of the other stuff. So just curious if anyone has tried the current production boxer primed ammo and it didn't feed, or any other problems....

...oh and would this just be a moot point if I went with FNM (Portugal) ammo with the yee ol' FMJ?

I haven't used anything but surplus in my 8mm Mauser.

But if I were to buy commercial I would stay away from the US manufacturer's because they deliberately under-load that cailber. I've heard good things about Sellier & Belloit in 8 mm, although I have not personally used it as yet.

Century's Hot Shot is made by Privi Partizan who also makes Wolf Gold... great stuff but it shot low in my 98K compared to my Yugo surplus 196 gr ammo.

Question Back on the Aimsurplus Ammo

:confused:Okay - is that ammo 154 or 196 grain? My 98K really likes the 196 grain ammo, which on some boxes I've bought translates to "heavy pointed ball" (Schweres Spitzgeschoss). My guess is it's the preferred machinegun ammo, but at any rate, if this is the 196 grain (usually silver looking bullet) I will buy some.... the 154 grain doesn't kick as much, but then, doesn't shoot well in mine anyway.

I've been using the Wolf Gold 196gr through my Gew 98. Shoots well, I bought a bunch last year when it was cheaper.
