Maverick 88 questions (stock and sling related)

Hey everyone I just got a Maverick 88 12ga, 20"bbl/8 shot, for 199 bucks...I'm looking at getting a pistol grip stock in the future, and this one caught my eye: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=760088&t=11082005
According to the description, it says the actual stock can be taken off so it just leaves the pistol grip if I wanted that, though I doubt I'd be firing it without the stock all that much

Anyone have this stock, and most importantly, would it fit my Maverick? I heard that the stocks interchange between the mossberg and Maverick, so I'd assume it would fit mine.

Second, I'd also like a sling, but there are no swivels on my gun. There's a molding mark on the stock where one would be, but that's it. What do I need to do to get a sling on my gun?
EDIT: from the pics of that stock I linked to above, it appears to have a sling swivel on the bottom of the pistol grip. So that's a plus...now how would I get one for the front?

Yes the stock will fit your Mav, but given your caveat about not using the pistol grip only (and I'm willing to bet you won't after a few rounds), I'd recommend keeping your standard stock.

As for the sling question, check the barrel takedown screw, it should have a threaded hole. This is where the front sling swivel stud screws in. For the stock, simply install a wood thread sling swivel stud where that mold mark is.

Assuming you're in the NoVA area, you can proabably get the sling swivel studs at one of the local places (Gilberts, Gander, or VA Arms etc).

thanks for the info...the reason I was looking into a pistol grip stock was because after holding the gun with the regular stock up for a good period of time my wrist begins to hurt, so I figured a pistol grip stock would help that go away. Yeah the bbl take down screw is threaded, didn't know that's what that was for

This picture is of a Maverick 88 from a group made up for a Military Police unit deploying to Iraq.

If you really want a pistol grip on the gun I highly recommend you choose a seperate Pachmayer version.
This is the ONLY pistol grip only grip I have found that is controllable and pleasant with anything heavier than a 1/18 ounce target load.
You can switch back and forth as needed between stocks.
Don't bother with anything else.

As for swivels,
The bottom of the barrel lug that fits onto the magazine tube should be drilled and tapped for a Uncle Mikes sling swivel stud.
If it isn't, you can have a gunsmith drill and tap it or you can have him drill and tap the side of the barrel lug.
Any quick detach swivel will then work.
As for the rear swivel, you can do as on this gun and have a spare cartridge Side Saddle drilled and tapped for a stud or you can now purchase a plate that fits between the stock and receiver that will allow a sling swivel to be attached.

thanks. I think I'm going to stick with the factory stock for the time being and if I want something else later I'll get it then. I haven't even shot the gun yet so I kinda got ahead of myself. I'm going to shoot it with the factory stock first then decide what to do.
