Maverick 88 Security Differences.

I need help deciding if I should go with the 6 shot or 8 shot maverick. I'd rather have the 8 shot maverick with the 20inch barrel, but i've read that most mossberg barrels don't fit it, and almost everything will fit the 6 shot 18inch barrel.

You can occasionally find barrels that fit the extended magazine tube on the 8 shot model. But you are right, the 5+1 magazine extensions have the most readily available barrels.

One option you have is just finding an extra 5+1 magazine extension on the net if you do end up with the 8 shot model, that way you can find whatever barrel you desire.

I see, do you think the best route would be to go with a 5+1 shot? Im not really understanding how the magazine extension works with the 8 shot model. thanks.

Mag extensions don't work with Mossberg barrels.

If you buy the 8 shot 20" model you basically have two options: your first option is to search for a little while for a barrel that will fit the 8 shot magazine, your second option is buying a seperate 5 shot magazine and a barrel that fits a 5 shot magazine.

Finding the barrels that do fit on the 8 shot model can sometimes be a chore, there is a 28" barrel that fits 8 shot magazines on gunbroker right now though. They don't come around too often.
