Hope it ends up working for you. My use is as bag I can carry essentials I need throughout the day that gets carried little and mainly moves from vehicle to vehicle to house & office. It does carry well when lightly loaded, but start putting too much weight in and a two strap pack works far better. For me it works better than anything else I've tried thus far, but it does force rigerous attention to what you want to carry, not necessarily a bad thing.

Does it not have the cross strap to stabilize it? My Malaga has the optional second strap that goes to the middle of the sling starp and a Velcro loop at the lower center that will retain the second strap and can also be used to anchor the the pants belt in the center back.

Yes, it has the cross strap. It helps a lot, and requires some finessing to adjust correctly: too loose, it slides off my shoulder; too tight, it impedes taking deep breaths on my bike (like my stabilizer strap on my 35L "day pack"). But it's decent.

Still, with a nice hip belt, like the one on that 35L pack, the Sitka would carry like a dream, even with 15 lb.

I haven't weighed the Sitka fully loaded yet - other than judging roughly while holding it in one hand and a 10 lb barbell plate in the other - but guessing that just with EDC stuff, it's just under 10. Still working on paring down the weight some, an ounce here, an ounce there ...
