Here's my Maxpedition H-1 quickie review. The review is photography oriented but you guys can use your imagination and think of some way to use it for your tacticality.

I picked up a Maxpedition H-1 Waistpack today in order to stow my Nikon SB-800 in a more efficient manner. The waistpack is about the same size as the cheesy Nikon waistpack that comes with the flash, but is much sturdier and holes a heck of a lot more gear. Below is the Maxpedition H-1 (right) side-by-side with the non-triumphant Nikon beltpack (left).

One side has a pouch secured by Velcro with a pull-tab that fits a pistol magazine, multitool, flashlight, whatever. I put my Leatherman Wave and/or my titanium spork in it. The top flap has a slip pouch secured by way of a zipper that works well for small low-profile items such as spare batteries or memory cards.

The front of the pouch has two open-top slots that works for large but relatively flat items such as energy bars or a field notepad. The pouches that fit the flash's included AS-19 stand and should fit (should since I don't own any so cannot say) Nikon's colored gels.

The other side has attachment points for more Maxpedition gear such as their cell phone pouch. Or you can attach Oakleys (or other sunglasses with straight earpiece thingies that don't curve down the back of your pointy little ears) or a few extra pens. The top has a drawstring for securing oversized items, which the Nikon SB-800 flash becomes when the white diffusing dome is attached.

Below is the waistpack attached to Maxpedition's fine Fatboy tactical manpurse in which I stow my Nikon D70. The D70 just barely fits in the Fatboy lens-down with the kit 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 lens. Previously, I had to take down the camera in order to fit the body, lens, and flash in the Fatboy, but now I can attach the H-1 Waistpack externally with the SB-800 inside. Although the flash is not attached, I can now have my camera stowed but ready to go and the flash nearby; I like to have the flash handy but not always attached unless necessary since it handles like a pig. Speaking of handling like a pig, that's a quart of water attached to the manpurse.
