May I borrow your .44 Mag in Denver area?

So this may be a bit much to ask, but it seems like everyone here is pretty "neighborly" so I'll give it a shot.

I have 3 colleagues from the UK and France flying into Denver for meetings all next week and I promised to take them shooting next Thursday or Friday(June 18 or 19). As you all know, their freedoms are severely limited in their own countries so I want to share with them some of the beauty of being an American.

I already have several other calibers of rifles and handguns, but one of them was part of a shooting club in the UK and specifically requested to shoot a .44 Magnum since he has never fired one. I have ammo, but no one I know personally has this caliber handgun. I was hoping someone on the forum might be wonderful enough to allow us to shoot theirs. We can simply meet you at the Cherry Creek State Park if you aren't comfortable with loaning a handgun to a complete stranger(duh). We would pay for your entry fees, of course.

Im not in your area but you might try just renting one at a local range or somthing like that.

Would they rent a .44 Mag? I just assumed they only had 9mm, 45, 38spl, etc. I guess I'd be kinda surprised if they rented a cannon like a 44 mag.

your looking at this the wrong way. This is the perfect opportunity to buy a new gun.

"But dear, they are traveling all this way, its the least I could do." :D

Nate - I love it, but I already used "defense of the new baby" to buy several CCW guns recently, so my hubby approval rating is a little low.

It turns out that Family Shooting Center DOES rent a .44 Magnum!

...which brings me to my next post: For Sale: 50rd box of .44 Mag!

Oh Nate, that's beautiful logic. I can see the look my wife would wield if I tried that. I love it.

Maybe I could purchase a .44 Mag and write it off by calling it "improving foreign relations" on my tax return.

I'm confused....are you selling the ammo? Won't you need it for the rental gun?

If you ARE selling a box of .44mag, I might be interested. I have a Winchester Trapper carbine in .44mag.

....I could have them shoot my 40mm? And a few other NFA goodies, if you're interested. :D

Guns rented from the range at Cherry Creek State Park can only be shot with ammo bought at the range.

I live by that range, and I wouldn't mind bringing out the toys if you have any other niches to fill. The only really oddball thing I have is a .50BMG, but that range is a little short for it.

Rondog - I won't need the .44 Mag ammo, so I'll sell it to you for a good price. I can't remember exactly what it is, but we'll talk later.

Psyopspec - Even if they don't want to shoot the .50, I would love to! Although, I don't stock any ammo. May we buy some from you? PM me your cell so we can meet up. The plan is to go to Family Shooting Center from the west entrance around 5 or 5:30 Thursday(18th) afternoon. We have to be flexible about the time because work takes priority, of course.

If anyone else would like to share your love of guns and America with these folks, PM me!

Cool! Just send me a PM when you're ready. I live in Parker, and work in downtown Denver.

Oh wow- I live in Parker as well - Willow Park. That'll be easy.

Good to see you guys getting together to show them some fun, American-style. Have a great time!

Glad it's sorted out, but I think this is the better solution.

If this is business related entertainment you should be able to write off a portion of the expenses. Check with the CPA.

Brilliant! :D

To the OP: If those fellas don't get enough at the range send me a PM. I would also highly recommend taking PTK up on his offer. He has some very cool toys. :)

We're both very friendly and love to see people enjoy our things as much as we love shooting them ourselves (I think I can speak for PTK on that point).

There are a couple of places that I go to, one in Pike National Forest, and the other in Roosevelt. Both include a wonderfully scenic drive, and are <60 minutes from the Denver area.

I really feel for those in more restrictive countries. :(

PTK - I must have read your post too quickly, because I was thinking to myself, "What's so special about a .40?" Ha! I somehow read over the magical little "mm"! We would love to shoot with you. Our plan is to go to Family Shooting Center since we don't know exactly how much time we'll have or when we'll get out of meetings. They are only in town for a week, so I'm sure they will be booked solid. I'll PM you.

Wow, this is great. People meeting up and shooting together, along with visitors. Sorta brings a tear to my eye. I feel sorry for those who live with restricted gun rights and this is coming from a Californian, one day i'll get that .50 bmg...one day.

Oh yeah, we went shooting and it went pretty well although they would not let us fire the .50 and they didn't appreciate the speed at which one of my UK colleagues fired off rounds. One of them had never fired a gun before, so it was especially neat for him. We need to get more of those UK guys over here to shoot and maybe enough of them will fight to get their rights back.
