Maybe a dumb scope question but I have to ask

This is my dilemma . I am right handed but left eye dominant. Just started to get into rifles. I put a scope on my Ruger American 22 bolt action and have been shooting right handed using my right eye for the scope. I have been told that the best way to shoot a scoped rifle with my cross eyed dominance would be to shoot with the rifle left shoulder mounted. Problem is I just can't get comfortable shooting that way. Which brings me to my question. Do they make a magnified red dot scope that would afford me the opportunity to shoot with both eyes open but with the ability to see clearly say out to 200 yards like a standard scope?

Short version do they make a red dot that is magnified like a scope?

Thanks all.

Are you competing? People blow eye dominance out of the water personally. Do you struggle to use the optic you have on it? The old days of both eyes open with irons are no longer the standard situation.

Keep it simple

I too am right handed and cross eye dominant. My left eye is stronger, my right eye is only correctable to 20-40 vision.

I shoot rifle and sometimes shotgun games left handed. I shoot pistol righty but lean into it sighting with left eye but keeping both eyes open.

With rifle, I am far better shooting left handed both scope and iron sights. With shotgun, keeping both eyes open it is about even, right or left. On pistol, I am better doing it the way I do, right handed with a left lean. Use the sights you have, just adjust your technique.

Eye dominance plays a large role in shot gunning and in games like sporting clays where you need both eyes open for wide field of view target acquisition. There are examples of "stock bending" to get the dominant eye over the barrel rib.

In rifle shooting, I personally don't see this as an issue. Some shooters keep both eyes open with a scope but I am not as keen on this and only keep open my right eye as I am right eye dominant. But I could certainly shoot with my left eye if that was necessary. By closing one eye, dominance no longer becomes a factor.
