And for the fifty different fanboy hate mails that I received telling me that HK would totally sell 416 uppers here to civillians, but that they weren't because of import regulations, and when I told them that there were workarounds, I was called stupid and that I performed unnatural sex acts on animals. (aw the power of the internet!) Oh lookie, I guess there are work arounds to the import regs. Who's laughing now?

one has to think if the 416 is made with 50% german parts in new manufacturing facility in NH, then at least some of the foreign currency translation (weak and getting weaker dollar) gets mitigated.

unless HK wants to keep its "you suck but we'll take your cabbage" premium.

IMO, it seems to me that with the demise of the XM8, HK is looking for some othe avenue to regain the loss in potential sales of that platform to the US military. Opening the sales of the 416 and 417 being one way of doing that.

I'd love to be optimistic.... but I'm over that stage. The civilian version will probably be that ugly grey color with a 24" barrel. It will be permanently attached to a lower that only accepts 10 round mags and has a butt ugly grip and stock. They will do this because we suck and they hate us.

Now if I'm wrong and they sell just the upper as is without any HK civilian gayifying, I'd consider buying one.

I would love to see all the firearms manufacturers STOP selling guns to CA - INCLUDING all law enforcement agencies there. They constantly punish the gun makers - I would like to see an apt response from the makers.

(I would hate that it would also punish the civilian buyers, though.)

Not sure if H&K hates us, but they have made it clear in the most recent past that they do not like the idea of civilians owning military grade firearms despite what the guns laws are in the United States.

I think they see dollar signs(or Euro signs) in the US market and that is the "ONLY" reason why they are considering selling the 416 in the USA.

No thanks. There are two kinds of Krauts.....the Sig Sauer kind, and the H&K kind. I'll buy Sigs to my heart's content, but I would sooner drink turpentine and piss on a brush fire before I support H&K anymore. The company is going to need to change their public relations mission, their product line, their pricing, and their overall attitude before I considering buying from them again.
