I am thinking about buying MBC's 140g TC lead bullets. FMJ has gotten way too expensive. And I was wondering if anyone has any load data with these bullets and Unique?

Disclaimer: As there is no currently published load data from Alliant and Hodgdon, use the following information at your own risk. ;)

There is no currently published load data for 40S&W lead bullets and Unique but perhaps 2004 Alliant load data may help.

Lyman #49 lists the following for 150 gr bullet and Unique (you can reference 150 gr load data for the lighter 140 gr bullet work up):
150 gr 40S&W TCFP Unique OAL 1.090" Start 5.0 gr (980 fps) 16,200 CUP - Max 6.3 gr (1196 fps) 23,000 CUP

BTW, I use 5.6 gr of W231/HP-38 for Missouri Bullet 140 gr TCFP (IDP #7) at 1.130" OAL with .421"-.422" taper crimp.

Here's WST load for MBC 140 gr:

I've been using 5gr of Winchester Super Target and an OAL of 1.125" for these. They chrono at an average of 1046.3 with a SD of 16, fired from my FS S&W M&P with a 4.25" barrel. Makes for a PF of 146 ... nice load for plinking. Tack drivers that don't feel "hot."

From Accurate's website...

I've been using No.7 with the 170gr LSWC with VERY good accuracy.

Lead Bullets
No.2 140 LC TC 5.9 1,016 6.6 1,155 33,400 1.115
No.5 140 LC TC 7.2 1,038 8.0 1,179 34,900 1.115
No.7 140 LC TC 9.0 1,030 10.0 1,171 33,700 1.115

I got on this kick to use only one powder for all my pistol loads and have been using Unique as that powder. I have been running Zero 165g TCFM bullets with between 6.5-7.0g of Unique and have been quite happy with the results. I will use the info you guys have posted to find a safe starting point with the 140g's.
