For anyone loading this bullet, what OAL are you using?

If I seat it to the very edge of the driving band, it comes to .950. It has a more rounded profile than the 2 bullets in the Lyman Cast Manual which have a .980 and .960 OAL.

The only factory ammo I have that is not a HP is Mag Tech 95 gr FMJ and it is .970 and is a more pointed profile bullet

I can drop it in and out of my LCP barrel at a little longer length but did not like that much of the driving band showing. Seemed like it would lead to feeding problems.

I am at the low end of the powder charge (either BE or HP 38) so I am not to worried about seating it a tad deeper.

So anyone using this bullet, would appreciate some OAL suggestions.

Thanks

I don't remember the OAL precisely, but for my Taurus 738 I load it so that the bullet looks almost like a boulder style hat sitting atop the mouth of the brass - just a bit of driving band showing. Works perfectly.

Q
That is how I just loaded some test rounds. Maybe a fingernail width of the band showing. Kinda looks like a 9x18 round.
Do you recall the powder and weight??

Is this Brad??

"I load them to .964 OAL with 3.0 grains of W231 and they work great in all the guns I've tried them in."

I guess direct from the creator is the best info I will get:)

So some of the driving band is showing??

Thanks!

Yes, just above the shoulder. They are cute little things, especially when they're pouring out of our Camdex at the rate of 3500 per hour :)
Just above? or below the top of the shoulder.

A little of the shoulder is showing, yes.

Yes, they are adorable little mushrooms.:)

My yardstick shows this at .974 and my little LCP eats 'em up just fine. 3.5 gr of Unique.

Someone on another thread said something like "I could live with only Unique on my bench" and I believe he was right. I think I could, too. He is obviously a very smart man, since I agree with him.

How did you guys arrive a what seems like long OAL's??

Most of the load data from manuals (though not this exact bullet) are in the .960-980 range and this is such a short little mushroom. At the longer length there is not much of the bullet in the case.
