In the land of make believe.
I was wondering if the Mec-Gar 17 Round 9mm mags for a Sig P226 are worth purchasing rather than the Sig factory 15 round mags. I was told that Mec-Gar makes the 15 round mags for Sig.

As well as the 15 round 228/229 mags.

And where to get Sig factory/MecGar extended capacity mags cheap.

Thanks.

I cannot speak for the Sig versions but Mec Gar is a high quality mag, oem for some guns and made in Italy.

The CZ75 and Beretta 92 extra round mags work, and work well.

MecGars are top of the line and in some cases superior to some factory mags

Mec-Gar makes the OEM factory mags for SIG. I've had nothing but good experience with them in my SIG's, and a quick search on Sigforum will demonstrate lots of good reports.

Try shopping around, but Cheaper than dirt, Top Gun Supply, and CDNN tend to have them with good prices.

I don't have either of those guns but wouldn't hesitate to buy Mec-Gars for them. Mec-Gar is the OEM for many gun manufacturers for their magazines, e.g., the Browning High Power. I have a couple M-G BHP mags and they are fully the equal of the mags which came with my BHP.

i think mg has a patent on their 17 round follower, maybe sig ships 15 rounders because they are more reliable?

I have a couple of 17-rnd Mec-Gar mags for my 9mm P226. They work just as well as the factory SIG (prior to Mec-Gar contract) mag that came with the gun.

The only difference between the mecgar factory mags and aftermarket magazines is the follower. In theory the factory follower is more reliable but I've never experienced or heard of problems with the Mecgar followers.

I picked up a used 226 about a year ago and it instantly became my favorite gun. I've probably put 2k rounds through it using the 17-round mecgar mags and have never had a problem.
