Met up with @Hoopjj this morning and picked up the stuff he'd listed in the marketplace here (very nice fella BTW) that included the old Super 500 press. 20230422_111720.jpg

I think the total knowledge I have in regards to loading shotshells might fit into an empty 12ga hull. I loaded some years ago on my Dad's MEC 600 when I was a kid, but that was mostly just pulling the handle.
There's a silver charge bar and a red one, but no bushings. The red one says "12ga. 2" with "500x" stamped below that. Haven't found anything on the silver one. Are these pre-regulated so as to not use bushings or do I need to get bushings? Does it appear to be complete?

I haven't even fired a shotgun in a few years, so I really didn't need this stuff...but it might give me the itch. Press looks like it'll clean up well.

hoe it down with very boiling water, then let dry, spay with CLP, wipe down!!! maybe some sand paper and spray paint!!! will look good!

I think you got a heck of a deal! always wanted to reload shells!

Go to the MEC site for charge bars and bushings. MIDWAYUSA sells them as well.

I’m not familiar with the Super 500. But most of their charge bars are compatible.

Buy a shotshell reloading manual.

The Super 500 closely resembles the 650, many of the parts are interchangeable. MEC's charge bars come in two varieties; single stage (302 series bars) and progressive. (502 series bars) The old ones were set for one specific load (I'm sure 17.0 gr. of Red Dot was one, though I can't remember the numbers on the old bars) and specific shot load. (1 oz. or 1 1/8)
The current bars (502 series for your loader) can be used in the older loaders, and I recommend changing the bar/ bottle holding part "measure assembly" at the first sign of the welded on 'bottle caps' starting to come off. The new assembly is much stronger.
PM me if your interested in learning how to make a wad dispenser from the AA wad boxes.
