I went shooting with some friends today. I'm not sure why, but I performed poorly in my opinion. Maybe it was just a bad day. I began with my CZ 452 (22lr bolt action) shooting playing cards at 25 yd. I moved back to 50 yd. after shooting 5 rounds each at the first 6 cards. I was shooting OK groups but not great at 25 yards. The first group was high and left and huge, like 3" across, but each group thereafter tightened up a bit, until the last one was about 1.5" with a flyer. But once I went to 50 yds. it was terrible. I was not getting most of the rounds on the cards, I would say 2/3 of them were a few inches to the left, spread out a bit. I wish I had saved the cardboard I was using as a backstop. For comparison, I am used to grouping about 1" or a bit less at 25 yards (not a great shooter yet but working on it).
I have noticed that I have begun to group left with most guns! It began with my 1911, grouping mostly high and left. Now I'm doing it with almost all my guns (except my Marlin 336 for some reason). I think it is my trigger pull, but I'm not sure! Anyone have any ideas?
I have been thinking about getting a SAR 1, and saw a guy shooting one. I talked about it with him briefly, he said he really liked it but was selling it to buy another rifle. I wish I had asked him if I could shoot a few rounds and gotten his phone number, but I was in a hurry. Oh well.
Other than the fact that I wasn't getting much accuracy out of shooting, I had a lot of fun. We brought with us:
CZ 452
Marlin 336
Bushmaster AR-15
CETME
Colt 1911
SW1911
Ruger (P89? 9mm, fullsize pistol, double action trigger)
I have to admit that for the first time, just for fun, I shot two pistols simultaneously, one in each hand (the 1911's) The accuracy was beyond terrible, which I had expected, but it was fun. I felt very silly though.
