My AR is on the way. Yeah!!!!! I am looking at sighting options for low-light shooting along with daytime use. I plan to mount in the scout position and co-witness the irons.

I was thinking about the Meprolight 21i reflex sight with the triangle dot. I understand one sights for the tip of the triangle. Anyone use one of these?

I may just put Meprolight AR night sights on the AR instead.

Thanks.

For low-light shooting the Meprolight Reflex has some issues - particularly if you have varied lighting (shooting from a dark into a light area or using a flashlight with the weapon).

The blue-tinted lens can make targets difficult to distinguish as light fades.

When shooting from a dark area into a light area, the sight sometimes cannot collect enough ambient light to make the reticle bright enough against the more brightly lit background so it loses contrast and fades out.

Some of the amber reticles will also fade out if the target is lit in a similar yellow/amber light (street lamps).

Personally, I prefer the Eotech or Aimpoint sights for this type of use; but if you do use the Reflex, I'd strongly recommend having iron sights available since you'll need them when the reticle fades out.

The advantage of the trijicon and meprolight reflex sights is that they require no batteries as they are tritium. The problem with them is what bart mentioned. They're also very expensive. Go with a EOtec/bushnell holosight (same thing) or an aimpoint
