Meprolight or Trujicon?

Meps for me

I prefer Meps because they have slightly bigger beads than the Trijicons - more reassuring to me in the dark. They seem to be a little bit brighter, too.

The first set of night sights I got were a set of Trijicons I got on sale...they're great sights & since then I've had 3 more sets & all have been great. All have been bright & have lasted a long time.

It's interesting that the half-life of tritium is 12.32 years. That means half of the tritium is gone, resulting in only half the illumination, I would think. In another 12.32 years, half of the half will be gone, meaning only one fourth the illumination. I suppose they're pretty bright to begin with, though.

Built in obsolescence, so to speak.

I think the Mepros are better in full light.

One of the guys at my range talked the RO into turning off the lights last year, and turning on a low light just in the office. He and his Mepros were 8-ring or better at 50 feet, in very low light.

Before you buy check out the Truglow TFO sights. They are a great combination of fiberoptic and night sights. They are very bright in both daylight and complete darkness.

I prefer Meps over Trijis for one reason. The white outline on Trijis is painted on. I've heard it tends to wear off after repeated cleaning. Meps use a white tube to encase the sapphire crystal and gas. It won't wear off. I don't own any Trijicons, so I'm just reporting what I've heard from other owners. I do have 3 sets of Meps and haven't had a problems with them. MMC also makes some good night sights. Check them out if you're interested in something besides fixed combat style sights. MMC makes adjustable rears along with all kinds of other good stuff.

I prefer Trijicons. I REALLY don't like 3-dot arrangements for day shooting; I prefer something approximating a traditional notch-and-post and Trijicons are better in that regard b/c they have a less obvious obnoxious white ring. Also, the rear notch width to front blade width ratio is larger in Trijicons, meaning more light around the blade, which I also prefer.

Ahhh, funny, I dumped my Sig sights because I didn't like the lollipop. But I love it in a red dot (ATN).

Then again. I'm not settled with the Mepro 3-dots. I'm OK with em, just not set.

What I think, is --- if it's a bullseye, well, it's a matter of taste. If it's a reflex, it has to feeeeeel.

Personally, I "leapfrog." I always have something that works "right," but I'm always looking for something that works "better."

It's called "evolution," and I love this industry. It is a combination of being finite, and growing ...

:D :D :D :D :D

I like the Meprolight set on my Kimber CDP. Nice and bright and easy to use during the day.

I'm debating on what to put on my XD. The Truglow TFO sights look really bright. I might go with them. Who knows...

Trijicons on my P7 are 15 years old and still usable.

I have had and sold all of the rest--none ever came up to the Trijicons.
