"As long as you don't boil it on a hotplate and breathe in the fumes, you'll be okay."
Been there, done that. Nearly killed my 'stay at home' Mom who spent a couple of weeks in the hospital, while I spent 72 hours in bed throwing up every half hour. Ruined that deer skin rug beside the bed. The house had to be decontaminated. Had 20% lung capacity for about 6 months before things started to get better, which took about a year. Now, 49 years later still no long term effects have surfaced other than any kind of chest x-ray results in the comment along the line of "How long have you been a chain smoker?" I've never smoked. Then they tell be that my lungs are really scarred up. I still snorkel for lobster and spear fish a lot, but my breath holding capability has slowly reduced from around 3 mins to only one now. But that's likely me just getting old and loving that beer a bit more.
As I remember it, the Drs. claimed that the lungs were slowly expelling the mercury which is then swallowed. This then mixes with the stomach acid to make a poison that is promptly expelled.
All that trying to recover about a ounce of silver that was dissolved in the Hg. I've done some crazy things in my life, that was the craziest, but not by much.
DON'T TRY IT !!!!!!!!
