I bought several boxes of MFS from Sportsman's Guide. I have heard that they sell steel cased stuff but this is brass cased as they advertised. I hadn't shot any of it until yesterday. I had 3 out of 15rounds fail to fire in my SR9. All three appeared to have a very light primer strike. I decided there was something wrong with the gun so I loaded a mag for my XD and had the same thing happen. Ended up 7 out of a box of 50 looked like they had barely a mark of a primer strike out of 2 different guns. I re-loaded one of the mis-fired rounds in the XD and it shot fine. I re-loaded one in the SR9 and it fired. Anyone know what would cause the light strikes? At any rate, I think I'm through shooting this stuff.

If it's an actual light strike, it's either weakened springs or crud in the firing pin channel. The latter is more likely.

If the problem has only come from this ammo, and nothing else so far, it's more likely hard primers. That does seem to be a bigger problem from companies that sell steel-cased ammo.

Thanks, I had not ever heard or thought of hard primers but it is only this ammo and in 2 different guns. I shot 3 other brands (including some Swiss made ball ammo) in both guns and had no other issues.
