Anyone using this combination? I would like your input on your load and COL using MG 124 FMJ with 231 powder.

I normally use WSF when I run the heavier bullet. COL is gun dependent. So you will need to make up a dummy round to see what works/feeds reliability in your gun. As for load it's always best to workup the loads. Start low and step up in 0.1gr increments till you find a load you like.

You didn't mention pistol, but you could try 4.3-4.6 gr with 124 gr FMJ bullets at 1.135" OAL.

4.3 gr at 1.135" OAL will cycle the slide for most pistols and still produce accuracy.

Hodgdon's load data
125 gr Sierra FMJ W231/HP-38 .355" OAL 1.090" Start 4.4 gr (1009 fps) 24,600 CUP - Max 4.8 gr (1088 fps) 28,800 CUP

Hornday book lists no 124 with 231

Lee shows a 124 FMJ starting at 4.2 gr 231 1.095 col

Speer shows a 124 TMJ starting at 4.0 gr 231 1.135 col

Lyman doesn't not show a 124FMJ

Sierra shows a 125 FMJ starting at 3.9 gr 231 1.090 col

I bought the Ken Waters Pet Loads, so far its useless.

When in doubt, you can always use the lower load data to conduct your powder work up.

My loads were tested using G17.

I've always used either HS6 or Longshot, especially when workng with jacketed bullets. Generally speakng, either of the two powders above will deliver consistency in every respect right from the get go.

Just my 2 cents worth.

In my pistols I load between 4.4gr to 4.8gr W231 under a 124gr FMJ bullet for the 9mm. I am using a CCI500 primer, Win, Rem and Federal brass and the OAL I'm using is 1.100" The OAL will depend upon the bullet you're using. I'm using a 124gr Remington FNJ bullet right now.

I have loaded quite a lot of the MG 124CMJ bullets at 1.132" with a different powder.

With 231 under 124gr FMJ RN bullets, 1.125-1.135 also worked for me. I would start around 4.2 grs and work up. 4.2grs should easily work the action at these oals in your Glocks.

Not a MG, but for me
124 gr RP FMJ + 4.4 gr HP38* = 1027 fps in Sig Sauer P226.
Sorry, I don't have the OAL.

*Current production HP38 and Win 231 are the same stuff.

Anyone using Power Pistol? I've had a couple loads recommended at the below, but I can't find any book info, this seems hot.

124 grain MG FMJ-RN bullet
6.3 grains Alliant Power Pistol (6.6 grains max)
Winchester standard small pistol primer
COAL = 1.150"
