Crime Fighter Mom Fights Crime
Posted: 5/15/2003

Calhoun County - The woman who organizes Michigan's Amber Alert program had to protect her own family this week. She's a nationally recognized crime fighting mom and proved why when she says she was attacked in her own home.

The Tuesday morning wake-up call for Robin Trumbull was her for sale SUV on fire.

"I heard a sound," says Robin. "I stepped out on the deck, looked over and saw my Tahoe on fire."

Then Robin says a masked man dressed in black hit her in the chest, knocking her back in her house.

"He shut the door, grabbed my husband's ax handle which he uses for a walking stick and (the intruder) hits me again across the arm and he hits me again across the arm and I'm stepping back....I'm thinking all along how can I get out. Where's my hand gun?"

Robin says when she kicked the intruder, she then scrambled to the kitchen, shut the door and grabbed her gun.

"I took it out of my holster, took a step back, took aim...and fired. I aimed where I thought he would be."

Robin shot and missed the attacker who then disappeared.

"He could have run through the woods. It's still dark out."

Robin says she doesn't know who may have done this to her. But she says she's ready if the intruder dares to come back.

Calhoun County Sheriffs have no leads on this case at this point. But Robin tells WZZM 13 the intruder may have known the layout of her house. She says she thinks the intruder knew where to find her husband's gas cans, which were used to burn her SUV.

I have no problem with shotguns for HD.

This situation supports MY reasoning for "concealed means concealed", why I carry at home, and why practice is a must.

Especially someone whom is in the public eye, opens/closes a business, In or has a spouse in LE...etc.

Even if CCW not allowed, one can carry in residence. If kiddies around ( a concern) and the shotgun is locked up...the concealed sidearm is available and safe from kiddies.

IMO

Turns out she might have lied. This is a local story where I live.

(Calhoun County, May 19, 2003 6:15pm) The investigation is widening against Robin Trumbull, the founder and president of Michigan Amber Alert.

Trumbull said last week she was twice attacked by strangers, a story investigators now suspect she made up.

24-hour news eight has learned the Calhoun County Major Crimes Task Force has expanded its investigation to include new allegations that quote "Call into question the validity of the reports."

There's also an investigation into whether Trumbull embezzled money. Officials with her employer A.G. Edwards say they've launched an audit of all of Trumbull's accounts. If they come up with any irregularities, officials with the company say they'll make it right with their customers.

Same story, different source.

The liberals would have her submit to the attacker and then dial 911 so they can try to catch him.

Jason , thanks for the link. Interesting. Even so I thought the original story was a good reminder for what CRSam always said " one never know the where or when of next encounter..."

Well said.
One has to wonder how the liberal anti gun figure the populace ever survived before 911, cell phones, living in more rural areas where help was not immedialy available.

Must have been hatched...

Human species....parents, grand and great-grandparents... share life experiences with their young.
