Received this last night:

Kildee's Record of Gun Control Advocacy Lands Challenger Kirkwood Another Endorsement

Today, the Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners (MCRGO) joined the National Rifle Association (NRA) in endorsing Myrah Kirkwood for Congress in Michigan's 5th Congressional District. The MCRGO is the largest Michigan-based group of sportsmen and 2nd Amendment advocates.

"For me, urban crime is more than just a campaign theme, and I can tell you that in all my years as a police officer, I was never threatened by a law abiding citizen with a legal gun. It's typical of liberals that they want to restrict everyone's rights and penalize everyone, rather than go after the few criminals in a tough way."

The MCRGO is the largest Michigan-based group of sportsmen and 2nd Amendment advocates. In their endorsement, they commended Kirkwood for her "commitment to promote the safe use and ownership of firearms though education, litigation and legislation action."

Gun control is a singularly unpopular position in the 5th Congressional District, which has a large population of hunters. Large portions of the district are rural, where police response times are longer and home defense is a major issue for gun owners.

Kirkwood expressed her gratitude for the endorsement, pointing out that gun control advocates like Kildee have been proven wrong in the wake of Michigan's new CCW law, and reiterated her position. "The recent legislation approving CCW permits, proves that allowing law-abiding citizens to protect themselves does not lead to an increase in crime, or the daily Dodge City shootouts that liberals like Dale Kildee were predicting," Kirkwood said.

"Just as important, much of the 5th District is in rural communities where police response can take up to 45 minutes. What is a farmer or rural homeowner to do if someone is breaking in to their house or otherwise threatening them? That's why you see a huge increase in rural violent crime in countries where the right to self-defense has been severely limited or taken away from law abiding citizens."

Myrah Kirkwood is a candidate for Congress in Michigan's 5th Congressional District. A former police officer in the city of Detroit, she is a candidate unlike any other running for Congress. She was a member of one of the first graduating classes of female cadets in 1977. Myrah spent 16 years on the police force and ended her career with the rank of Sergeant. Today, Myrah is the mid-west regional security manager for McDonalds Corporation with responsibility for corporate and restaurant security. Myrah holds a Bachelor's Degree from Spring Arbor College and a Master's Degree from the University of Detroit Mercy.

Kildee professes to be a hunter but votes for gun control every chance he gets. Wish these condidates would stop associating hunting with the second amendment.:fire:

I don't think he would have the strength to pick up a rifle or shotgun, let alone pull the trigger. Must be what happens when your brain and body go to mush for sitting on your a$$ in Warshington for 26 years. I think that Myrah is a good choice to finally replace him this time.
