Now that my .41 is up for sale, I've got a question. If an out of state person buys it, I have to send it to their FFL, I know this and it's not a problem.

But, the pistol is, in the state of Michigan, registered in my name. Is there anything else I have to do when I sell it (other than keep the bill of sale)? Should I call the Sheriff's department and tell them I've sold it or something?

Hi-ya, nightcrawler.

No, you do not need to notify the sheriff's department. I would certainly hold on to the bill of sale, though, just in case.

Besides, we in Michigan don't have pistol "registration"...it's a "safety inspection" ;)

Oh...my mistake...that's right...I forgot, it's a safety inspection, for our own good. I mean, the county mounty is certainly as qualified as, say, a gunsmith, to determine whether or not a firearm is mechanically sound.....
