She did a great job. She survived the fight and to a law enforcement officer that is all that matters. My agency trains in not only clearing malfunctions but doing it with simulated wounds. We also train twice a month and qualify on all weapons four times a year...or did before COVID.

Analysis of the video:
It appears that the deputy induced the malfunction, probably by inadvertently hitting the slide lock lever. Did a great job recovering, however. It would be interesting to find out which shots connected and where.

She gave him every opportunity to save his own life but for some unknown reason he must have thought the odds were in his favor, perhaps because she was a woman, or he must have had a death wish.

Males will often advance on a female officer out a false sense of superiority. Saint Paul, MN PD had a very small female officer who had to shoot several people she was arresting in her first year or two. Apparently word got out on the street that she would definitely shoot, because she didn't have to after 3 or 4 incidents.
The officer in the video, aside from letting him get way too close to start with and missing the first five times, (slow it down to half and rewatch it) did everything right after that. Her malfunction drill was done well, don't know how she miss his punkin and blew her rear window out, but over all, well done and she went home that night, which is the objective. She should hit the range and do some firing after adrenaline inducted stress.
