This is why you keep a gun handy at all times!

I can tell you for a fact that it takes about 14 seconds to kick a locked door in, take out a dog and fatally wound a girl and her mom with knife. Ask yourself if your firearm more than 14 seconds away? Do you not think that spending that 14 seconds shooting the bastard kicking in your door would be more productive then spending it dialing 911 so somebody like me can hear you die and have nightmares about it for the rest of their life?

As far as I am concerned having a firearm nearby at all times is a small consequence to pay.

Got kids? Buy quick access safes and keep them in every room.

Fact is I think it should be a law that every able bodied and able minded citizen be required to be trained in the use of and keep a firearm nearby at all times.

Depressing rant over. :(

The High Road is to remove people from the low, low, road.

I hate reading stuff like this. This makes me want to kill those kind of people.
As a Christian, I am not supposed to hate anybody, but people like this...I can't imagine how I would feel if it happened to someone close to me. This is worse than murder. A bullet is too good for him. I think he should be treated the same as he treated her. Worse, even. He needs to be dealt with.

My rant is over, but I really don't feel any better.

What I want to know is: Will the local sherrif give her and her husband a CCW permit if they want one? If not , then he shares the responsibility with this demonic Massey !!!! :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: :banghead:

The woman left the door unlocked which was a big mistake.

Although having a gun is necessary, generally I think it's excessive to carry a gun into the bathroom.

For myself, I'd keep within 5-10 seconds reach: A Browning Hi-Power and 2 clips packed with Gold Dot 155 gr. JHP.

With a young kid in the house, door locking may not have been her choice - and of course - not expecting what occurred. Bit of a hindsight deal.

It can seem that way but - if folks would carry at all times even around the house, then firstly, gun is safe from kids and secondly - it is or should finish up with your clothes when bathing or showering.

I hate the seeming paranoia generated by doing this but - there just is no knowing when that 1 in a million situation could occur and a gun 5 to 10 seconds away is possibly useless.

Mine is with clothes when showering - it is never further away from me than arm's length - and I don't mind being called paranoid - too old, skin too thick! :D

Everyone has a right to do what they are comfortable with.

I will continue to keep a firearm on person, in the bathroom, or where else I may.

I never "thought" I would need one in the bathroom either. I mean c'mon, I'm a 6' 175# male. That "better to have and not need it vs not having it if I did" adage.

I have needed one more than once while in the bathroom.

Once again, there is a reason I have / recommend locks and keys from a good locksmith. Apartment complexes have master keys, these are given to maintenance folks ( for convienence). Well these Res Mgrs, Asst Mgrs, maintenence folks...do keep these if they leave. Sometimes they are not honest to begin with, some have resentments, some get into financial problems...

There is a reason I never left anything Firearm related out and about...or any other hints of valuables.

Private residence? BTDT as well. Master keys to fit the discount store door locks - fit an amazing number of locks out there. Garage door openers, you can get a slew of them from the chain stores that sell these openers, drive down the street, press buttons and see the garages open.

BTW Mom's new Automatic Gargage door opener, will be of a nature that this one will have a secure code, and I can change it . I have new lock/ keys in the works as well.

I just finished doing some stuff I haven't finished editing the material about. Impromtu Training if you will. Some based on REal cases I am familar with.

I was able to get into the bathroom, and "attack" a lady in the shower before she could reach for the training gun. She even had the door wedged, so it would not open... so she thought ;)

Learned how from a Trustee btw.
