Not to me. I've never been able to get a rifle to shoot consistently or accurately off of one.
I use a lead sled a lot, especially when working up loads for heavy recoil rifles (saves the shoulder). But shooting off bags, or at least a bipod and rear bag, is more accurate for me.

I shoot off a lead sled all the time, have 25# bag of shot on it for weight. I also have a holder that hooks the front feet to the front of my bench. With my bad back I have to limit recoil if I want to shoot pain free. I've tried bi-pods and I need a lot of practice if I don't use some kind of rear support. I have no problems shooting off bags though, except for recoil hurting my back. After 3 Major surgeries it's not going to get any better. The only thing that works for me are injections to keep it in check.
