middle trigger finger?

I used to play video arcade games like Point Blank and Time Crisis and I also used to use my middle finger on the trigger, simply because I could fire much faster like that.
However when I tried to fire my Vektor CP1 under stress with my middle finger, I found that the index finger interfered in one of two ways (eventually):

1) Being on the edge of the eject port at times. Although it never caused a stoppage it was a distraction.
2) Causing unwanted friction on the slide and also distraction because the slide is textured and this movement is felt under the index finger.

So I would say on balance it is probably not a good plan for real guns. For arcades though, let it rip!

There was a time that I had ripped open my index finger and had stitches and about an inch of gauze on it. I had a skeet tournament that I ended up shooting using my middle finger, it felt strange, but it didn't seem to handicap me. If I remember correctly, I still shot well with all four gauges in the high 90's, but no 100's.

she shoots all my real guns without a problem, for the most part she hasnt been able to manipulate the slide on a handgun since her fall but she does fine if i chamber a round for her.

is it because she's used to using that finger when you're around (sorrry mods - couldn't resist, I'm on a phone app at a foreign airport so can't see all the posts). IMHO, index finger has stronger individual muscles…

Only ask because much like yours, my wife likes her index to shoot too…and I'm never home….so just thinking...
