Hey Full Metal Jacker

USPS does not have tracking numbers....... It is a delivery confirmation number.

It only tells you that it was delivered... That is all it is for...:what:

I've actually had better luck using USPS than I have UPS. I prefer Fed Ex first then USPS and if I have to UPS. UPS boxes always seem to be crushed and late and my last job quit using them completely and switched to FedEx and all of a sudden packages quit getting lost and damaged lol.

yep, i knew some buddies that worked for UPS in college. they all said the workers through packeges though the air from the warehouse onto the back of the truck.

i also noticed they always take longer than you pay for--3-5 days with UPS means 5-7.

fedex is the best :)

actually midwayusa and brownells both give you USPS tracking numbers.

delivery confirmation is something different. see for yourself: http://www.usps.com/shipping/trackandconfirm.htm?from=home_header&page=trackandconfirm

if you're going to call a fellow member names, and be rude, you might want to get your facts straight first. ;)

I never called you or anyone else names

that was a misspell (sorry)

Plus I was not rude, I gave you an accurate description.

quote from USPS below

"Email all future activity will generate an email any time we receive a delivery or delivery related event (such as attempted, refused, returned to sender, or forwarded"

You might get lucky and it told you it was delivered to the receiving Post Office the morning of the delivery

You might get a tracking number if it was sent through UPS and they used us to deliver it. Their tracking numbers start with a Z. Ours has a 9102 or a 9101 in the number after the zip in the deliver confirmation number.

That is not tracking, it is only telling you what was did after we delivered, attempted delivery, or they refused a delivery and or we returned it to the sender. there is no info while in transit, unless somebody happened to scan it.

I have worked for USPS for over 30 years.

no prob my friend, i apologize for jumping on your case :)

i'm currently tracking a package from brownell's through USPS. it's giving me the time it hit the iowa sort facility and the montezuma iowa central hub. it is a tracking service, although a pretty crappy one lol

USPS is hit and miss...

Here's an example of how fine our USPS is.

On Friday morning I ordered an upper assy from Bravo, shipped USPS. Friday evening I placed a second order for a friend, from Bravo...shipped USPS. Both packages were in my mailbox at 10:15 a.m. Monday! I stared at the boxes in disbelief for a second or two. I was amazed.

Wednesday I placed an order with DSG for a buffertube/stock assembly. It shipped via UPS. I fully expected it to be on my porch Friday evening. It's not. It's bouncing all over hubs everywhere in the SE. So far, it's hit all 3 major hubs in NC? I'm guessing it needs to bounce over to the Blue Ridge Parkway for a stroll next, then back to Raleigh. DSG had great service, but UPS shipping usually gets to me house on the second or third business day with standard 3-5 day shipping. Go figure. I track many shipments through work and personally via UPS and this rarely happens...but it does. And of course it would do it when I'm sitting on the porch waiting for the UPS guy to bring me new AR parts for the pile!:cuss:

This is one of the few times I've seen where USPS>UPS. During the same week I also returned a deffective phone (Mon) and received the replacement upon their receipt of my phone. The new phone was in my mailbox Thursday. The USPS must have been reading this post because they were on the ball last week for me.:scrutiny:

What day and time did you order the merchandise? If you order it on a Friday after NOON, the order doesn't go out until Monday, even though you'll get a notification from Midway that says your order has been shipped on Saturday night. All that means is that the order was picked, packaged, & waiting for the pickup/drop off. I know this be cause I order from them all he time.

MidwayUSA shipping via USPS 1st Class
Anyone know what the typical travel time for a package from MidwayUSA (MO) to California via USPS 1st Class?

I'm on day 5 of shipping and still haven't received anything, which is strange because I ordered something from Hilton Yam (in FL) using 1st Class and received it Wednesday.

I meant to use Priority but submitted the order before checking. :banghead::banghead:

FEDEX is the best, though. they give you more info than you want

I'm not so sure. On their automated web tracking, I've seen a few times where I didn't get any updates until the package arrived. That's when you could go online, look it up and see the entire progress. I could call, however and they could tell me where it was. Airborne used to be great, but they went under and DHL isn't giving the same level of service IMO. Of course shipping through any carrier has it's fair share of mishaps on standard 3-5 business day shipping so YMMV.

I am having the same problem with UPS

i have packages in transit from both midway and brownells right now through USPS, which i ordered on the same day.

midwayusa, 3 days later, finally sent an email with tracking info. it took them a full day just to ship my order. it just left the MO sorting center...

however, brownells took about 30 minutes to ship my order! they also sent me an email immediately with the tracking info. this order is already in a sorting center near my house, i should get it tomorrow.

I am having the same problem with UPS

Usually, my packages hit one hub here in nc (Raleigh, Charlotte or Greensboro), then they head to my local hub. I just found it odd that the package went to all three hubs before hitting my local one. It pretty much took the triangle route all around my local hub...kind of odd. At any rate, it showed up today and my parts pile is large enough to start assembly.:D:D:D:D:D
