I'm in the market for a new range bag and after looking around these two seem to be the best for the price and are very similar. I was just wondering if there are any of you that know what if any differences there are between the two bags and which one would hold up to rigorous conditions better. I'm deciding on which would be the better choice to go with. Not sure if 5.11 has the option but I like the olive drab version Midway has.

if you are referring to this bag, I can tell you that the 5 star rating on the site is accurate, as I have one. it's only deficit is it's a pretty big bag. if you stuff it full of mags, ammo and firearms (not to mention ear protection, eye protection, water bottle(s), etc.) it can get pretty darn heavy! I can also speak to Midway's service/support... shortly after I received mine they had a recall for the shoulder strap. I emailed them and within a couple days I had a new shoulder strap, no questions asked and free of charge. It was a solid result. the only other difficulty i've run into with the bag is the little plastic 'flags' on the ends of the zippers can sometimes release the lace; i've had 2 do so so far. it takes a couple minutes to put them back together. Overall it was definitely worth the money. i would wait though until they go back on sale, as I purchased mine at $40 instead of $50, unless you need it now.

I just walked in the door coming from the range, Midway bag in hand. It's held up extremely well since I got it a year ago; as someone who appreciates high-quality nylon gear, I think they hit it out of the park for value on this one. It's easy to tell that it was designed from the ground up for and by a shooter, and they didn't skimp on the stitching and zippers. It's heavy duty enough that the shoulder strap can be used even laden with pistols and ammo. It comes with a brass bag. Space for eyes, ears, boxes of ammo, a water bottle pocket, separate compartments that fit my cleaning kit and a can of lube perfectly, holsters, mag carriers, and even a spot for shooting cards (IDPA, range membership, etc.). Especially for IDPA, I really wish I'd have gotten one sooner.

I looked at a similar 5.11 offering in a sporting goods store, and I didn't think it measured up for space or how heavy duty it seemed. And even if it was close, at 3x the cost on the 5.11 I'd still buy Midway again.

I looked at both before i got mine. I had a friend that had the midway bag so i could check it out before hand.

I went with the midway bag because:
More room.
Liked the side pocket arrangement.
Heavy material and stitching.
Price (got it on sale for under $40 +shipping)
2 pistol rugs and a ammo tote bag
the bad:
to dang heavy if you fill it all the way up
Made in china.

Its been a good bag for the last 3 years and no problems.

I have the Midway bag too. Its a nice bag with plenty of room.

Well I have two both Midway the medium and large range bags both are excellent and cheaper than most especially if you get them on sale or as a gift from kids for Christmas as I did. I've had them both now for a couple of years and both have held up well over time.

I have the Midway bag, it seems extremely sturdy and holds an apparently unlimited number of handguns (really, you can stuff at least 8 in there easily)

I've killed a number of range bags, and I think the Midway bag will last. Snag one if they're on sale.

I've got the midway bag. It has held up very well to all of the abuse I subject it to. We've got a couple of cats that tend to like kneading on nylon bags. They particularly like the midway bag and claw at it quite a bit. It takes their abuse quite well too.

The Midway bag is very nice. My only complaint is that the shoulder strap slides off my shoulder VERY easily and often.

I bought several 5.11 Large Kit bags to use as range bags 4 years ago, gifting one to my dad. I don't normally put my firearms in the bag so space isn't a problem although these are smaller than 5.11's Range Bag. Both are well used but look brand new with no issues to report. A quick unpacking of contents reveals all this, and it wasn't full, again in a smaller bag than either under consideration.

Also a fan of Midway's Tactical Pistol Cases, having purchased a half-dozen.

No experience with the Midway bags. I own two 5.11's; they are good to go.

I own a 5.11 range bag. Very nice. The Midway bag looks good though, so either way you'll not likely be disappointed.

They're the same bag... The Midway one is just usually on sale.

I have one and it's great. I don't use it as much right now, since I'm not taking a lot with me to the range these days, but when I do, it's awesome.

personal opinion: the midway big bag is too big. I have the small and by the time I stuff 3 or 4 handguns and some ammo in there the bag is so blasted heavy I couldn't imagine what I would do t my shoulder with a bigger bag. I"ve seen the big bag in person, and it really is huge.

I have both and they are very close, but I would go with the midway on the basis of value.

I have the 5.11 bag and am very happy with it. I am a big fan of 5.11 gear and feel you get what you pay for. I have not seen the Midway bag that is the same as the 5.11 bag, but I did buy a small version as a gift. Based on the smaller Midway bag I don't think you can go wrong for the price. Even though I'm very happy with my 5.11 bag I would buy the Midway bag for the savings.

Thanks for all your input guys I appreciate it. I guess Ill just go with the Midway bag next time I see one in OD green (their out of stock on the site).

I got the Midway Pro Series bag the last time they had a big sale.

I have not had the time to really use it much to decide how much or if I like it.
It is big, but in a lower profile, and wider.
The lower section that is hard on the bottom is where I have decided to store my ammo, and that seems like a big space saver compared with having to put the ammo into the main compartment.
