I'm looking for a mil dot scope in the $50-$100 price range for my 10/22 that would work well to 100yds if such a scope exists. Any recomendations??

My daughters 22lr wears a Centerpoint from Walmart. She outshoots me all day with it. My 22 has a Simmons ProHunter on it. Zeroed at 25 yars the tip of the bottom line of the reticle, right where it switches from the thick line to the thin, is dead on at 100 yards.

Can anyone comment on the BSA Sweet .22 scopes?? I know they are not mil dot but the bullet drop compensator interests me. I keep seeing the term AO - what does that mean?

A friend of mine who was a Marine Sniper (actually a Marine Sniper, not some joker claiming to be one) actually recommended the BSA Sweet series of scopes to me when I was looking for a scope for my rifle. I didn't get one but I was REALLY surprised that was what he recommended. I think the Sweet 22 scope would be a good scope for a 22lr. I would try one base on his recommendation. He still shoots a lot and I'm sure he know a little about quality scopes.

I have been looking at those and will probably go with one. The reviews are mixed on them but that is common for almost any scope under about $200. I want something that is versatile in terms of shooting a variety of distances and originally was consodering a mil dot scope but I believe the dots may be too big for small targets. The adjustable turrets are probably better suited for my application.

Where abouts are you in WV Jon??
Parkersburg Area here - I live in Washington and work for Miller Communications.

Not a sweet 22, but I tried a BSA 4-12 illuminated mildot for $100 from Academy, and it was really kind of shoddy.

It had the worst glare in the tube and on the glass that I've seen in a scope. Even so, if it hadn't developed some sort of debris on in the reticule picture I'd still be using it. (just using it for benchrest load development on my iron-sight competition AR)

Now, the $100 Nikon (duplex reticule) rimfire fixed power 4x scope I had was just great.

For scopes on a budget, I like to check the Sample List for good values in used or demo scopes.

I've used this on a couple different .22's happily. It's not Great Optics, by any means, but nothing under $100 is. The optical quality at the lower end of its range of magnification is more than good enough for fun recreational use, and the dots are not big enough to obscure small targets:

I bought it several years ago after doing some research on affordable scopes for rimfire silhouette and haven't regretted it.
