When I was in the Army, I was issued these things to teach with. Mostly C-4, but some times TNT. I did not always use it all, and not to waste, I took it home. I later used it in demonistration when none was supplied.
Yeah, it left Ft.Benning in the trunk of my 1961 Chevy. It came back the same way. I wonder what would happen if some NCO was stupid enough to do that today?

Careful, Sindawe... Should your home be searched, they'd likely nail you for possession of meth-lab equipment. If this guy were my neighbor, I'd be a little concerned, but not upset. I'd probably even joke about it. I agree that they're taking a hard-a** approach to "cluttered yard". That in itself is un-defined anywhere you go. It needs to say something like "two or more Ford Galaxies and a bathtub" or something.

I don't have as many toys as he did, but I've got the clutter. No mice this year, but that just stinks to high heaven. There's almost nobody who doesn't get mice at least for awhile in a midwestern winter. We're talking about animals that can squeeze in through holes too small to put your finger through, and it got to 17 degrees below zero here this year, never mind Minnesota.
If he's smart, though, he'll act like the Hand of God hit him and clean the place perfectly. They're obviously determined to do anything they have to do to this guy other than leave him the hell alone.

Then why was it even in the news? He should sue for defamation of character or whatever applies here.
So they found scary semi-autos. Whoop-ti-doo. That's not even related to the explosives. It should have read "...as well as about a dozen semiautomatic weapons and ammunition, a couch, two televisions, a friendly dog, frozen pizzas, several Pepsi's and a piano."

This is wrong on so many levels:
1.
Hmmm, no charges, so guess there were not the Airquote Explosive materials unairquote.

This sounds like "Well, we screwed up but to COA, your house is messy, so CONDEMNED. I get mice in the house every fall, when they're looking for a someplace to hole up for the winter. A couple of traps eventually solves the problem. And the daily state of my 13 yo daughter's room would be enough to condemn the entire house. Sounds like they conducted their search, apparently found nothing (no immediate charges), now they scrambling to find something to charge him with.
Dahlen needs to sue the BATF, the county attorney and everyone involved.

Is it just me, or does it seem like certain agencies are practicing for the big game? They get a tip or some shaky probable cause and another gun nut gets hauled off, regardless of how legal the alleged perp truly is. The media has an obvious agenda.
I would have to agree with other posters in that reloaders, EBR owners, and folks with big collections can become the next one hauled away because a 'concerned neighbor' called.

I heard this story a few days ago and what struck me was the "military grade" BS being spewed about. It sounds like Mr. Dahlen needs our help. I may look up his attorney Joe Rymanowski and send a few bucks on his behalf.
It sure would be interesting if Tom Gresham could line up Mr. Dahlen or Mr. Rymanowski for his show and we can hear what really was going on here.
This kind of thing scares the hell out of me, which I'm sure is it's main objective. You'd think they would have something better to do than harass law abiding citizens with no probable cause.

There was another somewhat similar story that occurred in Fargo a few weeks ago. The funny part, if there is such a thing possible, was that it involved an old college religion professor of mine. Apparently he's also a reloader and was fire forming some cases in his garage. Concerned neighbors called police and the next thing you know he's got a SWAT team surrounding his house. Everyone got to see him on the local TV news getting hauled off in handcuffs. Another dangerous terrorist with explosives.
